Day 5

 

What's a sunny day today? After we finished the lessons, we went to have Go-karting. I think it's really great to have this kind of game. I loved to drive in high speed and it was very exciting. I haven't played it before. In Hong Kong, there are not many opportunities for us to play Go karts. I played a little car just like Go karts in Hong Kong Disneyland, but it can pass through the others. Once you passed through someone else. You will think that you win and you will have lots of happiness.

In the evening, I don't know why every times when I go back to my house, I feel very sleepy. But I can't go to sleep too early tonight because we needed to go to watch a Drama. In Hong Kong, people usually go to the theatre if they want to watch a drama. But it is different in Saskatoon; people will go to the park and watch it. They usually bring their own chairs too. Today in the park, there were many children. When the actors sang the goodnight song, I really wanted to fall asleep!

Day 4

Today was a wonderful because we did not have any lesson and activity. We could do whatever we like.

Our neighbors visited us this morning. After we finished our breakfast, we went to a shopping mall. There are many different kinds of shops in the mall such as supermarket, dessert, dressmaker shop and boutiques. The mall is similar to Hong Kong but the size of the shop is bigger than Hong Kong. I bought many things in the supermarket such as snacks and drinks.

After we finished shopping, we went to McDonald's to have lunch. I think the food at McDonald's is similar to Hong Kong. In Canada, you can refill your drinks as much as you like. You only need to pay for 1 CAD for a bottle for unlimited refill. Also, you need to tidy up your dish after eating which is different from Hong Kong.

At night, I watched video and ate ice cream with the host family. I also played baseball with Scott who is the child of the family. After that, I gave a present to George which is a rabbit doll. She loves it very much. What a rich and happy day!!!

Day 3 - Picnic at Pike Lake

We went to the Pike Lake today. There are so many grasses and trees. We can always absorb the fresh air in Canada. In the day camp, we met other host families. We played with the children who come with the families. They are all very cute and friendly. We made a lot of fun!

        At lunch, we ate the hamburger and the chips. It’s very delicious! After lunch, we went swimming! The swimming pool is so big and beautiful. Somebody slept on the grass and enjoyed the sunshine. We ate ice cream and Saskatoon blueberries in  the swimming pool. It’s so yummy! I swim for a long time and we took a lot of photos in the swimming pool. We made a lot of fun!

        We ate pizza for dinner. It tasted good. We chatted with our host family for a long time. We talked about our school life in Hong Kong and some social issue in Hong Kong and Canada. We know more about Canada. I really love to talk with my host family. They are so kind, friendly and also very helpful!

        At night, we watched the Canadian football with host family. We know more about the culture of Canada. It was so excited about the Canadian football competition.

        I become more and more in love with Canada!

Day 2

Today, we had a lesson and we went to a zoo in Saskatoon. We wrote our journal during our first writing lesson. We spent a lot of time to finish it. We wrote the entry ourselves.

In the afternoon, we ate sandwiches, some vegetables and my favorite food chocolate cookies! The cookies are prepared by Gwen. Gwen, the host’s child, cares a lot about us. I feel very lucky to have Gwen in our host family.

After the lesson, we went to the Forestry Park and Zoo in Saskatoon. I was excited that I had a chance to go to a zoo here. Also, I did not believe that I could go there today. This is one of my dream places that I longed for. I saw many animals inside the zoo. I could see some rare animals which live only in Saskatoon such as fox, black bear, peacock and gopher. These are wild animals living in the forest. I felt that it is amazing to have these animals in our world. I fed the deers and they were very beautiful.

When I arrived home, I knew that Gwen’s leg got hurt because of my bed. I felt blue and sorry. After dinner, we helped Gwen to wish the dishes. Then, we went to the supermarket. I found it totally different from Hong Kong. The supermarket is extremely big and spacious. We can find all our daily necessity there.

Also, we ate ice cream after we went to the supermarket. The host dad drove us to the nearby food store. We ordered some food without getting off the car. I think it is convenient for Canadians to buy food while driving their cars. I ordered strawberries milkshake. It was really delicious. This milkshake was fresh and creamy which was different from Hong Kong.

Day 1 - First Lesson in UOFS

This morning, the host mum drove us to the university. I am curious about the university because I have never been to there and I want to learn new things about it.

In the afternoon, we had lunch time! I had delicious sandwiches today. After lunch, the university teacher took us to walk around the university. Oh my God! The university is gorgeous and enormous. I love St. Thomas More College which is the college we have lesson every day. Also, the environment is very nice at the university.

In the evening, I went to the Lake with my host mum. She is nice. She told me a lot of things about Canada and Saskatoon. We chatted a lot of things while walking although my English is not very good. She always encourages me to speak more.

I love Canada, the college and my host mum!!
